What You’ll Learn

This term focuses on portrait drawing and painting, with a clear, structured approach to developing your skills.

Across the course we will explore proportion, head construction, the planes of the head, tonal structure, likeness, colour mixing, and painting from reference. The aim is to help you understand portraits more clearly, build confidence, and develop a more deliberate way of practising drawing and painting.

Each class will include step-by-step teaching, demonstrations, practical exercises, and time to develop your own work with individual feedback.

This course is suitable for beginners, returning students, and improvers who want clearer guidance and a more structured approach to portrait work.
