Still Life – Spring 2026
Learn Composition, Colour, and Light Through Still Life Painting
Still life painting is like returning to our own creative laboratory. It gives us the chance to clearly see our strengths and weaknesses, and to focus on levelling up the core skills that apply to all subjects. By working with smaller, everyday objects, we can refine our drawing, strengthen our tonal understanding, develop confident mark-making, improve our compositional choices, and explore colour design more deeply.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or have decades of experience, join me this spring as we explore the world of still life and take your painting to the next level.
Course starts week commencing 5th of January – Limited Spaces.
Explore Eds Art Classes
Ed has been a great teacher, always gives positive praise, as well as constructive criticism and hints to make my painting better. He has taught me about colour, technique, medium, individual artists and the different genre of painting. I am forever learning with Ed and long may it last
Really look forward to Ed’s art classes. He has a great approach and he is able to guide, advise and support without criticism or negative comments. I always feel like I learn and pick up lots of helpful direction. Its a great way of learning and I would thoroughly recommend him as a valuable art teacher.
I’ve been to several of Ed’s classes. First, I really like his work, both drawing and painting. I’m sure it’s possible to learn from people even if you don’t much care for their style, but I like Ed’s draughtsmanship and use of colour. One of the best things, though, is that Ed is a really good teacher. So whatever your level and choice of materials, he is interested in what you do and wants to help you improve.
